Active / Passive Learning Programmes
A person will gain fresh ideas and skills by both learning on their own and with others.
Training manuals are usefully read by personnel with time given to thought and reflection, before meeting a line Manager and / or the Team as a whole.
Many line Managers give talks or even invite guest speakers to present areas of interest.
Simple questions can assess how far the material is being received and also serve to clarify the subject for the Team as a whole.
Consideration should be given to the difference between active and passive learning.
Active learning implies actively answering questions, perhaps a questionnaire, whereas passive learning implies simply reading the material.
