Improvement
A review of one's personal progress with a line Manager, may be helpful and especially if training is involved.
Few short comings, on the part of the individual, are beyond some form of improvement.
A great deal depends upon our own willingness to change and also whether we ourselves and others have a positive attitude to that change.
All to often a 'Give a dog a bad name and it will live up to it' philosophy exists, which prevents true growth and improvement. In other words a self fulfilling prophesy needs to be positive and not negative."
Competition with others tends to lead to negative attitudes among people. Within a group all too often a greater number of people loose out and then individuals compensate in socially unacceptable ways. However, self competition or self improvement is always beneficial.
